NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / November 6, 2024 / Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge ("LWC")recently disclosed a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal data of thousands of customers.This data breach has led to concerns over the security of sensitive private and protected health information entrusted to LWC.
WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?
On or about May 12, 2024, LWC became aware of a security incident on their IT Network. Upon discovering the incident, LWC launched an investigation with the help of leading cyber security experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. As a result of the investigation, LWC determined that an unauthorized activity occurred between April 26, 2024, and May 12, 2024. LWC, with the help of outside counsel, retained a third-party data analytics firm and launched a comprehensive review of the incident to determine the types of information exposed and to identify the individuals affected. LWC's review determined that sensitive personal information and protected health information was impacted.
LWC's investigation discovered that the following type of sensitive private and protected health information may have been exposed in the data breach: Name, Addresses, Social Security Number, Driver's License or State ID numbers, Bank account number, Username and password or email address and password, Health/ medical insurance policy number, Tax Identification Number (TIN), and IRS Pin. On October 17, 2024, LWC issued a public disclosure about the data breach and started sending notice letters to individuals impacted. Compensation may be available for those individuals who received notice that their personal information was compromised.
